Founded in Beaver, Oklahoma, in 1978 as McFarland Exploration Company, MECO is now based in Edmond. Our experienced agents and hands-on leadership support right-of-way and mineral work across the central United States.

Tim McFarland
Tim founded MECO in 1978 and has guided the company for nearly five decades. Beginning in mineral exploration, he expanded into right-of-way services to meet clients’ needs, building lasting relationships through integrity, industry knowledge, and hard work. His experience and leadership continue to guide MECO’s approach to serving clients and supporting the next generation of right-of-way professionals.
Garrett Leatherwood
Raised on a farm and ranch in central Oklahoma, Garrett began his career as a field right-of-way agent. He brings 14 years of right-of-way experience to MECO and still enjoys being in the field. Today, he leads client partnerships and project coordination, drawing on firsthand knowledge of landowner relationships and field execution. Garrett focuses on clear communication, disciplined documentation, and responsive support, and oversees financial and administrative controls from award to closeout.
Kael McFarland
Raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle, Kael began his career as a field right-of-way agent. He has spent 14 years in right-of-way and continues to serve in a range of field and leadership capacities. At MECO, he oversees day-to-day operations, staffing, and agent performance across the company’s multi-state footprint. Kael emphasizes quality fieldwork, consistent reporting, and professional landowner engagement.
